Anyone else experiencing or has experienced this and know how to solve? Seems impossible to fix without removing the glass? Any suggestions appreciated. image.jpg

Hi Dave,
I have seen a number of these doors that all had that happen to them when I was looking for my boat. When I found my boat it had a clean door frame and i was thinking that it was bad coating or a lack of cleaning and washing that was letting the corrosion build up.
I have been freshwater rinsing the door itself and the frame every time. so far I have little to no corrosion. But I saw that on 3 boats that I inspected.

couldn't you tape the door glass and go at the corrosion with a good sander and scraper? Then spray it with flat black paint?
I have been trying to prevent it from happening but I may be delaying the inevitable?

My door on our 2014 R27 Classic had similar issues. I removed the whole assembly (three pieces, interior frame, exterior frame, and door) sanded, primed and repainted last winter. Not perfect, but I learned a lot! Next time I will use high build primer to make a really smooth surface. It looks like your door is different than mine and may need the glass removed, I can’t really tell from the photo. The door frames are aluminum and this sort of corrosion seems common or older boats. I sure an automotive paint shop can deal with it if you are not willing.
