Why is there black smoke out the port heater
vent? Looks like something is on fire. It looks
like it's inefficiently burned diesel.

We have a 2017 25 SC so I’m assuming the same heater. I suggest you set the fan to high and the temp. To max for about half an hour. This was a recommendation from a rep. At a recent boat show. He told me to do this about once every 6 weeks to avoid unburnt fuel etc. accumulating and smoking. Hope this helps.

Hello jongleur,

Great advice from Chimo to run the heater on high temp/fan for awhile. I would also be sure to check the fuel pump and filter located in a black box above the fuel tank/below the main cabin step. This filter should be changed every 1-2 years depending on how frequently you use the heater.

If you have a Wallus stove/heater, as my 2017 does, then there is a filter element at the end of the pickup tube in the stand-alone tank. It can be cleaned, rather than replaced. The pump is also on the underside of the stove. The stove can be taken apart and cleaned, which I've had to do once when it wasn't lighting. I have instructions at home that I can send if you are interested.

Ignore the above... I have a 2007 R-25...lol. 11 years a R-25 owner and still loving it.
