We are looking for a second home. My main criteria is one I can take the boat from Seattle (Elliott Bay) and cruise, moor; and be 10-15 mins away from said house. Gig Harbor is where I am leaning.

BUT!! my wife to be grew up on Camano and wants the home there badly. I cannot, for the life of me, find a dock anywhere on that Island. I think the ONLY solution would be to find a property that has a ball and/or the ability to get a permit.

Does anyone have a solution to dock on or near Camano??

My comment: How the hell can an entire island in the Puget Sound NOT have a small marina??!

You are correct. Camano has no marina. There is at least one boat ramp - at the state park. The west side Is exposed to Saratoga passage. Though nothing like Strait, the seas here do churn. In Sunday’s northerly gale there were 4’ whitecaps, and a strong southerly would have the same result. Typical westerlies get a run out of Penn Cove and pound Camano. The island’s NE & E sides are not navigable, too shallow. The nearest marinas are La Conner or Everett.

Thanks Dubs- confirms with what I thought. My only experience with the west side was this spring. CIYC was kind enough to let me use their ball this spring - winds came up so quick and fast I couldn't get back to shore to pick up my girlfriend in the dinghy.

Looking at La Conner too- love that place!

Our boat is in La Conner. Port of Skagit is a nice Marina. Shelter bay is across the channell as well and has private moorage.
I think LA Conner is a hidden gem. The only down side is the long no wake zone headed north. To the south isn't bad.

Welcome to Washington!

I agree with you- we've hit all those marinas this year adn Port of Skagit is very nice. I found a place in La Conner that has its own dock. First time in my life I've seen a cul de sac that's water!
