Translation of, "has anyone installed a camera on stern I'm thinking of putting one o stern of downsized for blind spots any ideas has anyone done this project I'm thinking wireless;

Has anyone installed a (rear view) camera on (the) stern (of their boat)? I'm thinking (about) putting one o(n the) stern of Downsized (to help reduce) blind spots. Any ideas? Has (a Tugnut)(already) done (a similar) project? I'm thinking (of using a) wireless (system).

Seriously? Did anyone not know what he meant. Let's chastize/correct off line please.

Yes, I just completed mounting an Audiovox CMOS2 on Just Dreamin' for the same reason, i.e., blind spots. I did not take the wireless route as I was a little concerned with possible interference. The camera itself is very compact and mounted very nicely to a small piece of starboard which I fixed to the transom just to the port side of flag mount. I routed a small groove in the starboard to keep feed wires in place and then dropped (power leads and video cable) inside aft locker and into the bilge area. As I never plan to use the macerator pump ( do not think I will ever be offshore far enough to use and strictly prohibited on Great Lakes) I connected the camera power leads to the pumps power source and then feed the video cable forward to the helm station where I have it connected into the Garmin 5212 video input. Nice clear picture on the Garmin video source 1. Having the camera utilize the macerator pump power source allows me to control camera power with DC switch panel. I will post photos later next week as I am not at the boat right now enjoying some long overdue sun in Ohio and getting a little yard work completed.

What is the video input on the 5212...a RCA plug? I have the same unit and am looking at a video facing the rear....bought a wireless unit but it was a narrow focus camera to look at a hitch as you were backing up. Just need to know what the input is so I can start searching??

Steve, I used the adapter cable which came with the Garmin unit it plugs into the rear of 5212 and has two video input leads and a PC lead. Both Garmin video leads are RCA female plugs - ordered 25ft RCA male/male cable from Amazon. My Audiovox camera also has female RCA plug.
