As we continue to sort out all this wonderful Ranger Tug 'stuff' we were wondering what your thoughts might be on using a kayak or two instead a dingy or do we need a dingy too?

We kayak and are comfortable kayaking, but not sure if that will suffice --

Thanks,
gail

A dinghy is easier to carry things on, and dogs, etc. I think I'd be more presentable after a dinghy ride than a kayak ride. I have three kayaks and much prefer them to a dinghy under most circumstances. But, for long distance cruising and day in and day out, back and forth to the tug, I'd have to give serious consideration to a dinghy.

Thanks Gene,

It is almost a 'dahhh', you are so right. Not long after reading your reply, we headed out in our kayaks.

Just thinking of a dog on my lap and that more presentable comment -- yepper, you are right right right.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. We are so anxious to float on a Ranger Tug 'and a dinghy' up in the beautiful NW. --Kayaks for fun.

Cheers,

Yup, Willie and I second that!!

Oh my, I just noticed that it might help if I learned how to spell dinghy.

Why is that 'h' in there anyway? It isn't Rangher Tugh --

Doing some Ranger Tug homework along with land chores today. To all you floating today: ahhhhhhh 'enjoy'.

To Herb and Gail's reply's about "Floating around in the NW on a Ranger Tug", I can tell you, it does not get much better!

One week from today, we will have had Karma for one year. The entire time we have commuted from Las Vegas to Karma's home in Port Orchard Washington. We have spent at least 45 out of 52 weekends on board. I have over 200 nights on board, Maureen has closer to 125.

We have been to the San Juans twice, the Gulf Islands once, Desolation Sound once, Poulsbo, Bell, Blake Island, Des Moines, Gig Harbor a number of times. While this may not seem like much to most people, we unfortunatetly are still stuck in the 60 hour work week. On top of that you have to remember, our mailing address is Las Vegas...... (I say mailing address because I have spent more time on Karma than in the house in Vegas.....)

By next week we will have over 300 hours on Karma and close to 2000 miles traveled. We have had very few minor issues with Karma since purchasing her and those that we have had, the factory has taken care of right away.

To those of you that live somewhere other than the State of Washington but are considering purchasing and mooring in Washington, I would recommend Port Orchard. We have a 32 foot covered slip that we currently pay $260.00 plus electric per month. When you compare this to most, this is very cheap. We have left our truck in the parking lot for up to two weeks at a time and never had an issue. We have never had an issue with someone "messing" with Karma when we are not on board either.

We will be celebrating Karma's Birthday as well as Maureen and my 30th wedding anniversary next week in Bell Harbor. Anyone wishing to join us is welcome. We will be dining at Mortons Steakhouse on Saturday evening. You are also welcome to join us there.

We use both. A kayak and a dinghy. If you get the right kayak you will find that there is lots of room.
