My alarm went off and it’s functioning properly. After opening the boat up it stopped within minutes. Nothing was running and the boat wasn’t out for at least a week.
The next day it has a very strong electrical smell and the alarm was going off. I turned off the power at the pedestal to prevent a fire.
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts with this type of problem

Check the connections on your short power cord at both ends and at the pedestal and boat. Bad contacts can increase resistance in the wire, cause overheating and burning. What appliances if any were plugged in and ON in the boat when the short power was on? Check all of those. Check your battery connections for high resistance issues too. HTH Gary

I had a starter battery being overcharged that set off our alarm due to it gassing off

How did you determine this?

When I measured the output voltage of the solar controller it was at 23v. The output of the solar controller should not exceed 14.4v. +/-. On a sunny day I could hear the starter battery gassing off when I put my ear close to it.
