The CB seat back on our 31CB is rotting, all 6 screws are loose. Fabric is still good.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Factory says they are backed up making parts for new boats, so not selling replacement parts.

Guess I will disassemble, try to duplicate plywood with starboard and find local upholstery vendor to reassemble.

How old is your boat? How is it stored/moored?

Hi Bill,

Sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Gigharborite has a good point. It would help to know how old your boat is and how it is usually stored. One thing you may want to note is that the seats should have their covers left on if the boat is stored outside, as constant rain and moisture can seep into the material over time and cause what you are experiencing. Let us know a bit more so we can make a better recommendation.

Thanks!

Ralf

I posted this about a year ago. Seat is holding up well.

For anyone looking for a more comfortable bridge seat on the older R31 CB, check this one out. It fits well and the cover fits over it when the seat is down and the back rest is pulled forward. It doesn't do much to expand the seating, but it sure is a lot more comfortable and sturdy. Plus, you can sit facing aft at anchor or docked.
