2013 Cutwater 28 with Volvo D4 Engine: What is the procedure for changing the two sacraficial zincs in the engine cooling system? I see the locations and understand what is involved with removal. What I don't know is, after closing the thru-hull valve, what is required with draining the sea water side of the system. Is this necessary? Also, what is the spec. for the proper zinc anode? This is my first time doing this on the D4. Thanks for your help!!

I just unscrew them with the Seacock closed. Some water comes out but it’s not a lot.

Reach in with your finger and pull out any lose pieces.
Put the new ones in and open the Seacock - done.

Worst part is reaching.

for the one at the back of the engine, I use a 15mm socket on a short extender. the 15mm will work with the square nut.

If you provide your serial # to an authorized Volvo P marine dealer, they sell them.

This is from Fisheries Supply. They are $4.34 each. I change them about every six months.
