Hello

I just changed out my two engine zincs after a year in place.

I found one was 50% corroded and the other was less than 10%.

Is the unevenness of these engine zincs normal?

Bob

Your 50% one was probably the bottom one. After one year that is pretty good. The bottom one tends to erode faster because it is always submersed in water v

Mine are about like yours every time I change them out.

Thank you for your replies.

Feeling better now!

I change mine each year and the lower anode is always close to gone. Even if it looks as if some of the anode remains a quick pinch between thumb and forefinger cause the remaining anode to simply implode. The top one being out of water most of the time lasts a lot longer... maybe 2 or 3 years.

When replacing the lower anode be sure to mop up any salt water off the engine mount assembly otherwise rust will set in very quickly.
