Changing the Air Filter on a D4-300 is a PITA

Just spent an hour as a contortionist changing the VP Air filter on my R31-S. There are 4 “snaps” that have to be locked after the new filter has been fitted in the black frame. I was only able to close one of them, due to the location and pressure needed to lock the snaps.

Very bad design, IMHO.

The access to the D4 260 (C28) is easy and right in front of you: however, the air filter snaps are nearly impossible to close.

Ended up breaking both of them (two on the D4). Replacement snaps are expensive. Rather than buy another problem, I set it up with zip ties.

Gary,

I broke one of the snaps and I plan to use a small bungee cord next filter change.
