Charter in Miami

Hello Florida TugNutters,
We are interested in a charter or rental or ?? in the Miami area for 4-7 days in January.
Something comfortable for two, perhaps a cruise to the Bahamas however staying somewhat
local may appeal to us as well. We are travelling to that area to attend our youngest sons graduation
from Navy training in Charleston, then thought some escape time in Florida would be nice.
A hotel vacation sounds good however most time off is on the boat and I don't want to change that
quite yet. We enjoy cruise time, like exploring new places and find time on a boat together
wonderfully relaxing whether cruising or fishing or tied to a dock somewhere.
Can you recommend a charter or rental in the area?

Sounds as though you will be traveling down to Florida from Charleston and, unless you are really set on going to the Bahamas, is there any particular reason you are choosing South East Florida and Miami in particular? SW Florida offers excellent boating, for example in and around Charlotte Harbor, that would make a great vacation for a week or so and there's a good charter outfit out of Ft. Myers. Or at least they used to be good - I don't have recent experience. At that time of the year more protected waters might be a safer bet than hoping you get a decent weather window for getting to and from the Bahamas.

Thanks Pete, just what I wanted to hear. I have no experience in that area
and hoped for a response offering some local knowledge. We are not set on the Bahamas,
really just the cruise time and new places.
Any recommendation is welcome!
