I have two chartplotters GPS Map 7612 and a 7612xsv. The 7612 works fine. I am not receiving data on the 7612 xsv through NMEA 2000. it is not the cable or connections. They have been eliminated as the problem. I was told to send the chartplotter into Garmin for repair. Garmin said it is a $1,000 non-refundable deposit for any chartplotter repair. YIKES Has anyone had a similar problem? or an excessive estimate of $1,000? any ideas or suggestions?

Based on this statement and the fact that you have an estimate from Garmin I am a going to assume you have talked with Garmin support and exhausted all troubleshooting suggestions that they provided. Current soft wear update, Confirmed that there is 12V powering the N2K network, factory reset of settings ....... If you have and Garmin has suggested there is a issue with the unit $1000.00 to have what would be a factory refurbished 7612XSV is probably not a bad price.I purchased a used boat this summer (it is not a -Ranger or Cutwater) The boat had electronics but 2012 vintage. When I started pricing and purchasing replacements for the helm $6000.00 was gone in the push of a button. The next problem was everything was out of stock.
If you have exhausted all troubleshooting to spend a $1000.00 and have the unit repaired and refurbished may not be a bad price. It sucks that you have to do that but .........
