Looking to go to the area around Chattanooga on the Tennessee River. Would appreciate any recommended marinas that have transient dock space. I know the two downtown allow transients but they seem to be more or less "piers" that are open to the wake of passing boats. Looking for a relaxing time, not a 'rock and roll' adventure. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

We stayed at the docks located under the bridge. Yes just straight floating docks but not bad. I tied on the inside of the dock.It was a bit tricking with the current but completely doable (Erwin Marine). We stayed there 2 nights. It is an easy walk to anywhere you want to visit. I would do it again. The wakes were not bad. Fenders and spring lines did the trick.

The advantage of the downtown slips is that everything, including the WORLD CLASS aquarium, is within walking distance. We stayed at the bluff dock in October and don’t recall wakes being a huge issue, especially at night. Your only alternative is the marinas above the dam on Chickamauga Lake.
