Just curious, volvo was sold to some chinese company in 2010. Did that include the volvo diesel engine as well or we basically now have a chinese motor in our tugs 🙂

The Chinese own Volvo Cars which was actually part of Ford Motor Co. since 1999. So it hasn't been part of the same company that manufactures marine engines since then.

From VolvoPenta.US

"Volvo Penta has wholly owned plants in Vara (Sweden) for manufacturing 3-, 4- and 5-liter diesel engines and Lexington (Tennessee, USA) for manufacturing all gasoline engines. The majority of Volvo Penta’s diesel engines are manufactured at Volvo’s common engine plant in Skövde, Sweden. Since 2009, Volvo Penta has had a final assembling factory for diesel engines in Lingang, China. Volvo Penta’s sterndrives are manufactured at the Lexington plant and at Volvo's common transmission plant in Köping, Sweden."
