I’m afraid to ask-does the poop tank need to be removed to gain access?

No. To gain access remove the propane tank and its enclosure and then the floor of the locker. This is easily done. Just a lot of screws to back out.

On our 2014 R27 Classic it is different than Osprey’s description above. On ours propane tanks are on the swim step and the rudder tiller arm can be easily accessed via the stern seat. Lift the seat and remove the storage tray underneath. The rudder tiller arm is easily accessible from there. The configuration must vary based on model year of the boat. Not sure what year they changed this.
