Sometimes you hear something on the news and you feel badly but you are not connected to any of it. Today we are connected; Mike Rizzo (Knotflying) lives in Newtown, Conn. We exchanged brief text messages and he didn't know any more than what was on the news.
Please take a moment to reflect on this great loss of life today and hug your kids, your wife or someone you care for. For better or worse we are a family, boating and otherwise.

Regards,
John DeCaro

What a terrible event and loss of lives. It's just too hard to fathom what leads to this type of killing. Our sympathy goes to all who were affected by this terrible act of violence... especial given the time of the year as the holiday time is but a few days away.

I do hope Mike Rizzo is personally unaffected by this event -- but that's too much to ask as it was done on his door step so to speak.

To quote what I heard today... mass killings in USA amount to some 150 annually as compared to 15,000 homicide killings.

It's going to take some time to not think about this as I drop off my 5 year old grandson at school several times a week.

We just came back from a meeting with several of our neighbors and we are a in a state of shock. It will be some time before they will release the names of all the victims in this horrific event. My office is less than a mile away from the school and the response time from first responders was phenomenal, but 20 innocent little children did not survive. It is an event like this that makes one appreciate what we have and to cherish what we have because it can be gone in a second. Thank you for your thoughts.

Our prayers and thoughts are with those effected by this event. I can't imagine what it would be like to feel the pain of those who have lost their loved ones. You will all stay in our thoughts and prayers.
