We are considering an additional CO monitor. There is nothing wrong with the one mounted in the cave of our R25SC. However, a lot of stuff migrates to the cave and we are not confident that there is sufficient air exchange for the alarm to truly know what is going on in the cabin. Obviously, we don't sleep in the cave and think that air sampling in the vee-berth would significantly improve our safety.

Has anyone mounted a CO monitor in the area of the vee-berth? Were you happy with the results? What brands generate confidence in the Tugnut Community? Is there a brand to avoid? We are thinking of a self-contained unit that we do not need to connect to the boat's electrical system.

Thanks in advance for all the advice and opinions.

When we discovered ours in the cave was disconnected and broken, I immediately replaced it with one of these:
Kidde Model 21009720 Worry Free 10-Year Lithium Ion Battery Operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Digital Display
$45 at Home Depot. I like the display showing the CO level. It is LOUD!! Placed right next to my head on the port side aft wall of the v-berth. Install took 5 minutes. This model had high reviews at Home Depot.

PS: It's rated (per Kidde) to operate between 40 degrees and 100 degrees. That's just about the limits of the temperature range that I could stand to be on Our Journey!
