I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing puddling on their cockpit bimini? I have tried all the normal common sense ideas to no avail. Looking for a solution. This is is my seventh boat w/a bimini, all without issue until my latest vessel/28 Cutwater. Curious to know if this is common amongst the Ranger-Cutwater fleet? Rains every summer day here in Florida!

Not familiar with the Cutwater setup. On my 25SC the Bimini side supports are adjustable and will tighten the Bimini if necessary.

No puddling on mine although it is not the factory Bimini. My only gripe is I do get some dripping where the Bimini joins the salon overhang (on the corners). I added a little silicone sealant on top of the bead between the two and it helped a lot just didn’t totally eliminate it. I am told this is a typical problem so I just roll up the cockpit carpet when we expect a heavy rain.

I had the same issue with the bimini on my 2018 27OB. On my boat with just the bimini, the puddle would run straight off the back onto the stern seat. If you were sitting on the seat when the puddle decided to empty, it would run down the back of your neck. I 'fixed' it by putting on a full cockpit enclosure. Now the puddle runs to the outside of the boat and not into the boat.

I hear you on the daily rain. We only have a small accumulation on the starboard side. Only real issue is that is the side I board on so when I get on I usually end up saying "you got me again" as I get a cup or two of water on me. Some day I will learn.

I am sure you pulled back the Velcro and re-tightened. Only other suggestion might be to buy some foam pipe insulation (home depot) and place as needed around the frame to tighten and lift the bimini.

More expensive solution would be to add another rib.

All of the previous responses are enlightening. Thank you all for your input. I have my canvas guy of 25 years coming tomorrow. He’s one of the best. I will pass on any recommendations that he may render. Hopefully Ranger/Cutwater will also be apprised of a possible solution to this annoying problem.

IMO... adding another rib is the long term answer.

Any updates on a DIY approach to adding a rib to the cockpit Bimini canvas to prevent or minimize ponding of rain water, and subsequent shower when boarding the boat? Thanks.
