I purchased a used Ranger Tug, and the owner gave me basically a new Cockpit Carpet. Am I missing something? How are you supposed to use it? The thing is so huge that I can't open the engine compartment with it down, do any pre-departure engine checks, or try to roll the dam thing up. I almost need a hoist. Why wouldn't they make it in pieces? It's nice but nonfunctional. I was going to store it, but I now think it will become one of those things I have stored for years and never have any use.

I guess my question is anyone have it cut up to fit better or find a use for it? Thanks for any feedback.

My guess is that you have useless carpet that is not original equipment.
It will get wet and moldy.
A dog might use it as a bathroom !!!
You want to be able to lift the engine cover quickly in case of an emergency.

We used a 48” round carpet for the cockpit center area in both our R-25 Classic and now on our C-28. It’s light, easy to store while underway and much easier on bare feet than the cockpit fiberglass store. Going on 3 years with the current one with no issues about mold or mildew. At $27 it’s replaceable when it gets old.

I had that same cockpit carpet that came with my R31S. The hydraulic strut lifted the carpet along with the hatch with no problems, allowing access to the engine while the carpet stayed in place.

I thought the quality of the carpet was pretty good, but removed it when I had Raptor Deck installed.
