This is the last day of our trip enjoying the waters of Kentucky Lake. PORT-A-GEE is now lying in LIGHTHOUSE LANDING Grand Rivers KY. We had a great evening having Docktails with the owners of the marina Marty and Brenda also owners of a 28 Cutwater SNAPSHOT, Carl and Vickie 27 Ranger Tug, Vickie Lyne, Ron and Libby 25 Ranger Tug, Tug O' My Heart. It was fun sharing stories of our adventures. Our trip stated in Racine Wisconsin on 8/17 and is ending tomorrow 9/17 hauling the boat out of the water at Kentucky Dam marina's boat ramp and trailing it back to Seneca IL. for winter storage. Next year we will make the run from Kentucky Lake to Florida Panhandle.
Water ways traveled on this Segment. Lake Michigan 66miles, Chicago sanitary canal and Des Plaines River 61 miles, Illinois river 274 miles, Mississippi River 218 miles, Ohio river 48 miles and Tennessee river 25 miles and 32 miles boating on Kentucky Lake. 724 miles total. This just a small segment of the Loop. We want to keep going but we are not retired yet another 2 years and we will be full timers.
Our Cutwater performed flawlessly. 724 miles and used 226 gallons of fuel giving us a total average of 3.20 mpg. 96 hours on the engine. Fuel was tight on the Mississippi run 240 miles with no fuel stops. We had 25 gallons left when we arrived and I used my two 7.5 gallon fuel containers.
Logistics was not bad. We arrived in Green Tuttle Bay Marina on 9/9 to be greeted by several Loopers. Irma was to bring two days of rain in the area by 9/12 so we rented car and drove to Chicago to get our Truck and Trailer. When we arrived back in Kentucky we staged our rig at Kentucky Dam Marina. Ron gave us a ride back to Light house Landing and we have enjoyed beautiful weather on the lake the rest of the week.
