We bought our first boat, a tug 21 last year and are new to boating. Located in Hood Canal. We found ourselves in a few uncomfortable situations as wind and swells developed quickly and were not forecasted. A true learning experience, it was very scary for us as the boat is small and we were unsure how she would handle. We would like to take her to the San Juan’s and the gulf islands. Question, are we safer and more stable in a 23 or 25 foot? Or should we keep her? Would you fellow more experienced boaters feel comfortable moving throughout the puget sound and islands in a 21 or would you recommend moving up in size? If moving up 23 or 25 and why. She is in beautiful shape and we love the inboard motor. There is peace of mind knowing the engine and boat are in beautiful shape and she has been well taken care of. An unknown of getting a used boat has its drawbacks.
