Still in purchasing phase
Greetings, friends, photo simply to get your attention! Who are we kidding, I’m pretty sure that the R 29 is the boat for me. My wife and I are wanting to do the great loop next year. There’s plenty of information where I can get an idea of diesel consumption, etc. and based on 6 to 8 mph fuel cost isn’t you bf to be awful. what I’m not really finding is servicing costs. I know it’s every 200 hours, but typically, is there a range of pricing some of you can offer? Just want to try and factor this in with the budget and - yes - budget and boat don’t really belong in the same sentence. I imagine it will depend on location but also Volvo will have dealer suggested pricing so your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks in advance and maybe see you somewhere on the water next spring.

I service our 2015 R31-CB (LE). Oil, fuel filter changes and other recommended basic service items cost approx. $800 here in Seattle. This does not include labor or other service items that are not "annual", such as impeller change and transmission. I was once quoted an annual serice by. alocal yard of approx. $2000+;which is why I do it myself (very easy to do following the Youtube video explaining it step by step). Good luck.

For our 2021 R29, I just ordered fuel, oil, & transmission filters and an impeller, the impeller puller and spare bolts for the impeller cover (just in case I drop one into the bilge). With shipping my bill was $415. I will purchase oil and transmission fluid at the local autoparts store (add another $150) (I already own the vacuum pump to remove the old fluids). My oil analysis kits are another $50. Generator oil is only about a quart so not an issue. I have to winterize so antifreeze goes into the fresh water systems, and the engine for a long cold winter. A change of the Volvo VCS coolant that comes out of the block is another $120 (because I cannot easily get all the VCS out of the heater and the entire system I just drain and replace what easily drains out of the block each year and figure I am getting it all replaced at the required intervals). Looks like about another boat dollar, or .0025 of the cost of a R29.

We did the Great Loop on a R29S and did all the fluid and filter changes. Pretty easy. Nice youtube videos on it if needed. Perfect boat IMHO for a couple to do the g/l. I'll be hosting a AGLCA virtual "docktails" on small boat looping on Wednesday the 17th..
