Has anyone run the the Yamaha 250 on a Cutwater at high altitude and if so what propellor did you change to?

I assume you’re asking about a propeller for the boat that is in your profile, a Cutwater C248. Wonder what elevation your intended use is for. With Animas in your username maybe Navajo Reservoir at 6000 feet?

We have a Cutwater C24, which has about the same hull as the 248, outfitted with a Yamaha 300. Went from a three blade Yamaha 19 pitch prop to a four blade 15 p for Lake Powell at around 3600 elevation. The top rpm meets recommended specs per Yamaha and we typically cruise at 4,900 - 5,000 rpm getting around 2.0 mpg. We have also used the 4 blade prop in the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific NW and it works fine at sea level too.

Good morning and thank you for the information. We moved from Puget Sound to Lake Tahoe at 6300. I will ask about changing to the four blade. Biggest challenge is the loss of power on the 250 at that altitude. Wish I had your 300. Thank you, Larry
