Who do I get corosion off of the contacts for these switches? The overhead light switch no longer works (and really won’t move). See pictures.

Well, I know what you'll be doing next weekend

First try the easy solution (I swear by this stuff on my heavy construction equipment):

If it isn't dissolving away or the corrosion is just too much, you'll need to invest in the following:
  • Good Marine connectors
    A quality crimper
    A quality wire stripper
Alleve/Advil/Tylenol - for the pains the next morning thanks to your new contortionist job

Please make sure the 12v power is off and that nothing is fused back to a 24/7 panel.
Also, inspect the switches with a multimeter while they are out.

Thanks for making me laugh (and cry). I know nothing about the electrical stuff. The boat is brand new. How does this happen in three months?

It shouldn't have happend that quickly, but s**t happens at inconvenient times.

It is time for you to become a veteran of 12v electrionics, and this is the perfect project!

It is much cheaper to know how to troubleshoot and fix on your own, then have to be towed in !

Its super easy....start with the Lenco trim switch.

Brand new 3 month old boat. I would have it repaired under warranty and have them seal it so there is no future water intrusion.

There are also issues with gaskets coming off of the fish box lid, propane tank locker, etc. Not sure I understand having issues this early. I know **** happens, but this is ridiculous.

Found out that the switch plate has no gasket. Thus, water has easy entry points. That seems to be an oversight on FM’s part.

Hello Stuart,

The good news is your still well within your warranty. I'll send you an email directly to go over the process to get the work addressed. Don't hesitate to send me these directly or reaching out by phone. I don't monitor this site as much as my email address.

Thanks,
-Kenny

Thanks, Kenny. You guys got a huge compliment by a mechanic that came by to check a fuel smell we were experiencing. We just wanted to make sure there was no leak. There wasn’t and the guy thinks it was just the amount of wind we have around while we were filling. Those vapors got trapped in the bilge. Turned in the blowers, and it was fine.

Anyway, he said he was impressed by the quality of the fuel system installation, especially the double clamps you guys put on the hoses. Kudos to your factory team.
