Cost to Install a generator on a 2012 Ranger 29 Tug?

I have an offer in on a 2012 Ranger 29. I would like to install a generator. Can anyone give me a guesstimate on the cost to do that?

As an aside, the boat has air conditioning, which I very much want since I will be boating on the east coast, and want to add the generator to allow for the use of that when I am not hooked up to shore power.

You have 2 options, get a portable gas generator $500-$1K, or buy a diesel generator and do a full install and that will cost between $4K-$5K depending on generator and how much work you can do yourself.

A 2.9 KW available on Ebay.....Don't think it will run both AC unit simultaneously....but probably one at a time.

A bit pricey for a used generator....but a nice compact footprint for a 4KW.
