hey all you nutters,,, the [bee] will be in the gulf islands and north all of sept and most of oct if the weather holds..... we want to catch some crabs. any and all infor regarding eqUipment, rules , techniques, etc. would be greatly appreciated... thanking you in advance,,, steve and tina,, [CHRISTINA BEE, SACREMENTO CA] 😀 😀

I like John and Laurie's method on the Laurie Ann. They find a crabber that is heading into port and buy them pretty cheap right off the boat! Look at all the money and work you save. You don't have to buy one of those fancy crab pots or all of that line. You don't have to carry that stinky bait on your boat. You don't have to haul those traps up from the bottom. You don't have to buy a permit.

Yep, I think John and Laurie's method for catching fresh crab is the best I have seen so far. Now, if you could get those crabbers to clean, cook, and serve those crabs with a nice bottle of Chardonnay on the side.......

David still wouldn't eat them 😉 The chardonnay, OK. The crab, not so much.

Cheers

Steve and Tina --- I'm not sure of the crab rules in Canada, you'll have to check with the locals. For Wash. waters go to https.//fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov. We crab in zones 7E and 7s from July 14 to Sept 30 on Wednesday through Saturday. That web site will tell you all about zones, seasons, days, and fees. For bait we use old chicken that has been the freezer too long.

Hey there Steve and Tina
Are you boating through the San Juans on your way to the Gulf Islands? If you are, you could come on over to Roche Harbor and we'll have a big crab cookout. We could have a mini rendezvous for any PNW tugnuts and any tugnuts passin' through! And the Chardonnay is on me!

We went shrimping in Hood Canal this spring.
Cost
$ 160.00 Fuel
$ 25.00 License
$ 100.00 Boat Maintance
$ 150.00 for lost pot
$435.00 Total cost.
We caught 160 shrimp
That comes of $2.72 per shrimp.
My crab cost is a little less but not much.
I won't tell you the cost of my Salmon & Halibut the figure is to high.

But we had fun anyway.

Dennis
