cruising from Texas to Florida

Anyone out there gone from say Corpus Christy, Texas to the keys in Florida via the Gulf of Mexico? Stops? Fuel? Etc.?

If you go via the Gulf Of Mexico, there are no stops and there is no fuel. Hee Hee. If you go via the intercoastal, there is no problem except: transient slips and fuel docks are few and far between in Texas and Louisiana. I would get a current cruising guide and plan accordingly. From Appalachicola Florida to Tarpon springs, you must go offshore, about 150 miles I think. There are a couple of places you could stop, but the entrances can be tricky and shoal at low tide. Best to pick a day with good weather and go all the way to Tarpon Springs non-stop. One thing I can promise, you will have the time of your life, especially after you get to Tarpon Springs, and from there south to Key West.
