I have just returned from a week in the Nornalup National Park at the southern coast of Western Australia. The Southern ocean meets the rugged and treacherous coast here.We towed the tug 450 km from Perth to Walpole. This was an easy journey using a Nissan Murano. The southern scenery is spectacular - white deserted beaches, granite clifs and outcrops. The fishing is good in the ocean and in the Nornalup inlet where the chief varieties are whiting, garfish and black bream.
We spent the time exploring the inlet and the 2 rivers that flow into it- the Frankland and the Deep River. The weather was cool for West Asutralia - about 65F for a few days before warming up considerably and enough for us to go snorkelling among the reefs and kelp forests. The tug was magical and chugged away without any trouble, keeping us snug in the rough weather. There are only 2 tugs in WA (both blue) so we received many favorable comments on the drive down and back, on the boat ramp and from other boaters. I posted quite a lot of pictures but most seemed to have got lost in cyberspace. The rest can be viewed in Ogger's album.
Merry Christmas everyone. Our forecast is for 100F on Christmas Day.
