Cummins Onan 5K Generator

We have a 2022 C-30 CB. We've had an issue with the generator cutting out under way since we got the boat. The boat is currently in dry dock with the company, trying to figure it out. Anyone else with this problem? Any suggestions?

We've got a 2020 C28 with the NextGen. When our generator was cutting out, it turned out to be the impeller going and missing a couple of vanes. She'd run for a bit, overheat, and cut off.

We have the same genset.
It runs perfectly underway.
It should throw a code when it cuts out like that. It will be a series of blinking lights on the starter/primer switch. That will give you a start at where the issue is.

Thanks for the responses. It's not that the generator is overheating, it cuts out shortly after getting underway. It runs fine while sitting in the water. We've had specialists take a look and there's nothing wrong with the generator, they feel that its too small for the demand?

When they say the "demand", can you add some more context? You mention it cuts out when you are getting underway. What AC loads are you trying to run off the genset while getting underway? 5Kw (5000w) isn't a big genset, but there's also not that much in the way of AC loads on the C30. You have the reverse cycle, the cooktop, the microwave, the grill, and anything running via any of the AC outlets. I'm not sure this is even possible, but are you also running your inverter at the same time, and could that be causing a conflict? Have you looked at your AC panel to see how much amperage load is being drawn when the genset cuts out?
