I completed my new diesel installation and now need to install a propeller to match the hull/motor ...My tug is a 21 Seahorse but very much like a R-21..(same dimensions)...the motor I installed is a new Universal 3M-20b....18 actual horses even though they say 20hp...
Now what prop to use ? I have a 13rh16 and it is too much prop...so I am thinking maybe a 13rh12 would be closer to what I need....my Universal reaches hull speed at about 1300 rpm...I think it should be around 2000-2500 rpm. (the Kubota will reach 3500 without any load)
I have been told not to get a cupped propeller as those are for speed boats ...Is this true...Anyone using a cupped prop ? I understand it will lower my rpm by 200-300 ...true?
Sorry to ask so many questions but all the calculators give me different answers...and the prop guys have no idea of our type of boats and full displacement boats in the same weight range...
Thanks
Joel
