I have a 2017 Cutwater 28 with 215 hours. I wrote in this forum last week that I was having the drifting to port problem that has been well documented by others. I wondered why F/M would knowingly install a failure prone pump on their boats. That was my assumption. I was wrong. Andrew Custis posted soon after that this problem is caused when the internal check valve in the Garmin auto pilot pump fails. Adding an additional check valve solves the problem. The auto pilot pump has not always had this issue. The early C 28's never had the steering problem. The newer ones don't have it. My boat is in between. A change by Garmin in the pumps that F/M was never notified about resulted in F/M unknowingly installing some failure prone pumps. Andrew offered to help me. He notified Garmin about my situation, and the following day a check valve with the proper hoses and fittings arrived at my house. I am having this new equipment installed next week.

My wife and I really like our C 28. We had a Mainship 30 before this, and no one from Mainship ever delivered the kind of customer care that Andrew offered to me. As Cutwater and Ranger owners we are very lucky to have him. Thank you Andrew.

Good of you to update us on the status Mark. Often times we read of situations but it’s always good to be updated with the results as it can help us all. I’ll second the after the sale service experience you’ve highlighted here……they do go way up n above when something occurs that was a results of a vendor or themselves.

I am also extremely happy with customer service from Fluid Motion as well. I purchased my Ranger Tug new and had it shipped to the SF Bay area- no dealers down here. Ranger Tugs has been very responsive to all issues I have had, and worked with me to find solutions that have left me feeling comfortable purchasing a new boat in a location without dealership representation.
