Bought a new Cutwater 26 last August and have had some quality control issues already. One regards the spring that attaches the back of the TV mount to the wall or bulkhead. Bad design. It's in a folded state when the TV faces the V berth and straightens out when it swivels so the TV can be seen in the helm area. But if you forget to fold it in when returning the TV to its original position and the spring folds out, the torque acts against the hinges. In my case, one side of the top hinge popped out altogether. Again, a terrible design to achieve the objective. A large piano hinge would probably work better coupled with a rotatable two piece rod of some sort. Anything has to be better.
Also, I noticed today when I had the boat out that a portion of the ceiling lining above the helm had come free. I tucked it back in, but that likely won't hold.
Anyone else having these problems and, if so, what have you done about them? Haven't spoken to the dealer or factory yet.
Thanks.

Larry

Let us know what your dealer says

The dealer should fix these issues quite easily, migh wanna try to get a different bracket system for your TV from the dealer if you can.

Good morning Larry,
In October 2014 we purchased a used 2012 Cutwater 26.
We have made many enhansments(please look at our extensive photo pages for some ideas).
Ronnie Gonzalis, customer service rep for Cutwater has been a great help with replacing defective parts & service issues.
Remember we baught a USED boat & not once has the factory or Ronnie mentioned it being a used boat!
Their customer service has been OUTSTANDING, give them a try, I don't you will ask anything that hasen't alredy been asked before.
Good luck,

You've gotten good advice here by suggesting to make contact with your dealer and or the factory, they will make things right. I don't think it's as much of a quality issue when you have the folks at Ranger Tugs/Cutwater stand behind there product like they do, you just need to make them aware of the issues you describe.

I couldn't agree more with the replies to this thread. We bought a new 26 Cutwater in December 2014 here in Seattle and had a couple of "teething problems." The guys at Cutwater (Andrew, Ronnie, Ivan) were all terrific and were so good at making sure everything was not only taken care of but also that fixing any problems was not an inconvenience to me.

Is the Garmin 7000 connected to the VHF 20 at the factory? Want to be sure my MMSI is connected to the GPS. Have a 2014 Cutwater 26.

Thanks you for any assistance with this in advance.

Hello Larry,

The VHF should be connected to the Garmin mfd. After you have had both turned on and the Garmin mfd has established it's GPS position, the VHF should also display the GPS coordinates on its display.

The GArmin 200 VHF is NMEA 2000 compatible as is the Garmin 7xxx mfd, so you MAY have the two connected via N2K...but NMEA 0183 is also a possibility. If you also have RADAR, autopilot, sat weather, etc, then most likely your boat is rigged with an N2K network and thus your VHF is connected to the MFD via the simpler N2K protocol.

All the Garmin manuals are available at Garmin.com then click the word 'support' at the top of the page. Then it's fairly straightforward to navigate to the manuals of interest.
