Hi,
I'm about to be the new owner of a 2016 Cutwater 30CB and have the option on a covered slip that this boat was previously moored in. I've been told that the radar tower needs to be dropped every time in order to fit under the shed. My question is: How complicated is that procedure, and does it just fold down aft or forward or what?
Thanks in advance,
Bird Dog

Hi Bird Dog!

It is actually quite easy to lower the mast. You will find a small black step on a crossrail just to the right of the pedestal with the PDP (the compartment in the cockpit where all the battery switches are located). You can go out on the toe rail and stand on that step to reach the mast. At the mast you will see three black knobs. Removing these knobs will allow you to fold the mast down. You will also see a small stainless rod stowed under the mast that the mast will rest on when it is folded down. Simply pop that rod out of its plastic holder, insert the attached pin into the retaining piece on the mast to hold it in place and you're good. Hopefully this helps.

Cheers!

Thanks, Bruce. Is that for the CB tower? Sounds like the process for the sedan, but I don't know for sure. Thanks again for responding.

Hi BirdDog,

Sorry for the delayed reply. Looks like I got that wrong. You are correct that my procedure was for the sedan. However, yours isn't much harder to fold down. When you are in the cockpit, you will note that the aft support leg of the mast has an attachment point right at the rear of the cockpit overhang. You will need to remove that pin and have someone down in the cockpit (preferrably a bit tall) hold that support leg after someone above pulls the pin. Then remove the pins from the forward support arms on the mast that are attached forward of the seat. Also, remove the pins for the seat back, as the seat back folds down along with the mast. Now have the person in the cockpit slowly lower the mast aft and attach the mast to the stowage clip that is on the transom coaming by the transom door. That will do it. Hope that makes sense but please let us know if you have additional questions.

Cheers,

Ralf
