When I took my Cutwater out for a spin after she had been sitting idle for about 3 months, there was a lot of vibrations either from the prop or rudder. The vibrations were noticeable at any rpm but got a lot worse above 3000 rpm. I have never noticed this vibration before. Any suggestions why this happened after sitting idle for 3 months?

I have seen this happen when the tide has gone out and the running gear ends up in the mud with the weight of the boat on it. Don’t know if that’s a possibility or not?

Sitting 3 months in Saltwater? It could be growth or Barnacles causing an out of balance on the prop. You could have the bottom and running gear cleaned and ask what the diver saw..... or haul it of course....

Just a thought.

Yes, that was my thinking too. Barnacles could cause an out of balance prop, and it could also cause cavitation of the prop at the higher rpms. My son is going to dive the boat to see if there are any buildup of barnacles.
