I am a self-admitted data freak and believe being able to monitor/view more engine parameters is better than relying on a few standard ones. I have been researching, calling the Volvo Penta rep who commissioned our engine and calling Volvo itself in an attempt to figure out how I can maximize the engine data available to display based on the installed sensors, however, I haven't been able to definitively answer the following:
1. The 4" display looks like it will readout Engine Load and Propeller Load as a percentage of full power. My display has all dashes indicating these parameters are not reading sensors. Has anyone had success in getting this data to display or is the engine not sensored for it?
2. Has anyone come up with a means to monitor EGT or an equivalent parameter? The D4 300 has a EGT High alarm and engine power reduction, but I'm interested in monitoring trends to have indications of potential seawater flow issues before alarms result. I am considering installing a surface RTD on the exhaust hose downstream of the raw water injection point just to have an indication of seawater flow dropoff.
3. Are there any other sensors you recommend I add based on your experience?
