I’m the proud and relatively new owner of 2017 R31S “Tough Guy”. I’m about the have the first oil change and maintenance done since buying the boat which has 240 hours on the Volvo Penta D4-300. Is there a recommendation based on engine hours or calendar time for changing the impeller? Thanks in advance.

Our tug is 4 years old with 190 hours and the dealer recommended the 400 hour service which includes raw water impeller replacement. I have attached a link to service recommendations.

Changing the impeller annually is typically a good idea, especially if you put a large amount hours on per year. It’s also a good practice to carry a spare impeller onboard, just in case it breaks down while away from your home port.
