I have a 2018 RT 31CB. The last few outings with the boat I have had a problem with the depth sounder. As long as I stay below 10 knots it works fine. Anything faster and the reading just flashes at the last known depth and the chart plotter shows vertical colored lines spaced a half inch apart from the top of the screen going down about 3 inches. The moment I slow to 10 knots or less everything functions accurately. I read multiple posts regarding this or similar problem and they all seem to indicate a low fluid situation in the transducer. When I look at my transducer I cannot tell if it is a model with fluid or not.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

this is my transducer. it does not have the cup with liquid and is glued directly to the hull. it is an Airmar p79 I believe.

This is the installation guide for the P79 with the base. It can be glued direct like Cutwater28GG, or installed with a Cup filled with propylene glycol. If you look at the installation you will understand the difference.

Does your transducer have 6 small phillips screws around the edge of the top? Does it say Garmin on the top? If yes, then I strongly suspect that your transducer is mounted in/on a fluid cup.

Hello,

You have the cup style transducer, we have changed from and Airmar to a now Garmin made transducer. It is located in the in the rear of the boat just forward of the stern thruster, if it is the Airmar style you simply twist to unlock and lift up to check or add fluid. If it is the Garmin style you will see phillips screws on top, remove the screws to remove the transducer to check fluid. It is normal to loose depth at speeds at or above 10 knots due to the prop wash/noise. You can email me direct if you have more questions.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont
