After checking various locations suggested on this site - I am unable to locate this unit. My chart plotter is working fine except it shows a depth of 0.0 ft. at all times. I have searched the stern on the floor (under rear seat, generator etc.) with no luck. We have a 2015 R31-CB (LE). Any suggestions as to where to look for this unit?

thank you.

In our R29 it is under a removable piece of the floor just outside of the bathroom(head) compartment next to the shower sump pump box.

On the 2020 R27 it's under the step leading to the head, next to the shower drain box.

Thanks for the hints - I will check these locations.

Hi Jeffrey,

It might be a little hard to see, but on some older 31s, the transducer was under the starboard side, aft of the cabin bulkhead. You should be able to see it if you go through the starboard lazarette and work forward. You may need to remove the floor panel in that lazarette to get to it. Hope this helps but let us know.

Cheers,

Ralf

I found the transducer and it was loose on the floor, without a base. It appears it was glued directly to the floor of the boat. I am in the process of getting the base and re-attaching it to the boat.

Ralf, can you tell me where it is on a 2016 C30 CB?

My 2015 C30 has the original transducer cup directly under the shaft packing gland, then the revised position mounted under the v-berth floor hatch just aft of the sump box. The newest transducer a GT15 was added in the cave under the floor board just inboard and forward if the hull step bump (made for the easiest wire run up to the modules/screens).

In our 2015 R31-CB (LE) I had to open the rear seat in the cockpit, lay over our generator and it was on the starboard side near the rudder mechanism, peaking out on the bottom of the interior hull. It had no base and was no longer glued to the floor.

Hi Dave,

On the early C30s, the transducer was located just ahead of the engine, starboard side. That was a bit of a pain to get to, but possible. Right around the time your boat was built, we moved the transducer to the shower sump compartment in the v-berth. If it's not there, you will find it in that spot just ahead of the engine.

Cheers,

Ralf

Hey Ralf,
Would that new transducer location by shower sump in c30cb work for a through hole location?
I have a 2016 and in hull transducer is located foward bay starboard of engine at cabin bulkhead.
Thanks,
George

Would like to add a through hull chirp transducer system

Hi George,

The location would be fine, but it would be up to you to decide to install a through hull unit. Our philosophy is to not drill a hole if it is not necessary, and the standard transducers work fine. So that's up to you.

Cheers,

Ralf

The in hull transducer provided with our boat is now working fine. After 8 years, it had come free and we just added a base, filled it with anti-freeze and it is now working perfectly.

Thanks Ralf,
Understand the in hull theory however chirp technology offers a substantial upgrade for fishing and really doesn’t support in hull for maximum return.I was concerned about the location in regards to hull design interference with signal and wiring issues throughout. Have you had any owners attempt to use through hull transducers and if so where was the location and performance result?
Thanks,
George

I believe if your boat rides high in the bow, this location may not yield the best results.
