Depthsounder not working on 2022 Ranger Tug 31S

The depth sounder on my 2022 Ranger Tug 31S is not working. Neither on the sonar page nor any of the other chartplotter pages is depthsounder showing up. I contacted Garmin Customer Serivice and they troubleshooted while I was on the boat. They said I was two software updates behind. I installed the most recent update today sent to me by Garmin, but same problem exists.
When I went into Sonar options page and did “factory reset” the value 1.8ft appeared on all my chart pages, but when I rebooted the chartplotter all depths disappeared again. Also nothing is appearing at any time on the Volvo Pentta gauge.

I also did a troubleshooting from the Sonor Options page and no error messages appeared..

I”m going to call Garmin Customer Service when I’m on the boat again to see if they have any ideas.

Any help for me with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Check your transducer for leaks. There are several threads with resources.

Norm... Gary is on the right track. I had the same situation on my '21 R31S. The transducer is located under the fridge. It's a 2 person job to remove the fridge so you don't ding up the gelcoat. Fill the transducer cup with RV antifreeze, and I'll bet you're back in business.

I have an older (2013) 31cb... my transducer is located under the rear stern seat. Look on the hull floor and towards the center. Looks like a hockey puck.

The transducer on my 2020 29S is in the engine compartment. I loosened the 6 captive screws filled it with pink RV premix antifreeze and it is fixed.

I had this happen to me on my 27-OB. All the fluid in the transducer leaked out into the bilge.

Look at the manual for the R-31 -- it will show the xdcr location.

When you state that the depth sounder is not showing up, do you mean that the “window” or box on the screen where the sounder reading used to be is not there any more? If so, it sounds like a connectivity issue. You’ll want to go into the electronics area behind the helm and make sure all of the ethernet connections are secure. Then you’ll want to go into the connected devices area of the GPS Map unit and make sure it’s showing up there. If the symptom is that you’re just not showing a depth reading, then the advice given by the others is correct. The transducer on our 2021 R-31 CB is under the refrigerator. PM me for some good refrigerator removal advice if that’s the case.
