Does anyone have any recent experience with data coverage in Desolation Sound? I'd like to some specifics on what areas have coverage, which are spotty, and which do not. I have a coverage map from t-mobile for roaming and it seems to indicate that the following areas might have coverage:

Tenedos Bay
Roscoe Bay
Prideaux Haven
Teakerne Arm

These are on my list to go but want to confirm coverage. My spouse has a new job, and no connectivity is not an option for our trip, unfortunately. I do have a peplink 5g router with the 42g antenna that has performed very well on my most recent trip (Victoria, Sidney, Roche, etc.).

Hi, We have T-Mobile (Magenta Plus) and were in Desolation Sound last year and found the coverage more than adequate. We used our Android 4g phones as hot spots for our computers, and it worked fine for downloading spreadsheets and such. In tight bays such as Grace Harbor, and in your case, Roscoe Bay, you may find the terrain may limit coverage. That said, I don't recall ever being totally without service. Depending on your usage, you could burn through your Canadian faster speeds data limits. You will still have coverage; just slower unless you pay T-mobile for addt. data.

Better than checking the T-Mobile roaming maps is checking Bell, Telus, and Rogers (in that order) to figure out their coverage. TMUS will default to Bell or Telus but will also pick up Rogers (and depending on your hardware you might be able to manually select Rogers if the coverage is a lot better). All three carriers are covered under the roaming agreement.

I used to work in management at T-Mobile corporate, this was how we all checked roaming coverage if we were traveling somewhere (looking up the local roaming partners coverage and not relying on T-Mobile's own roaming maps).

Thanks, i've done the comparison. Rogers looks by far the best up there, but I just acquired an AT&T sim so that I have roaming coverage on all 3 networks up there, and i think (hope) that should be enough.

This is awesome intel! Thank you!!!

My t-mobile plan only gives me 5gb/mo in Canada, but now offers the ability to buy more, multiple times per month.
