Any suggestions as far as bringing Fishing, crab and shrimp gear on the trip ? Is 400' of 1/4" poly line adequete
for stern tie anchoring ?

Jim,

This will be our first trip to Desolation this year but I plan to bring my bottom fishing and salmon gear, and crab pot. Also, after we spend a few days in the Desolation area with the tugnuts our plans are to work our way north to Ports McNeill and Hardy and then over to Rivers Inlet.. As I understand it the big chinook and silvers come into this area and I am drooling to give this a try. Anyone else interested would surely be welcomed.

Recently spent a week with a friend at Winter Harbour (northwest tip of Vancouver Island) and the kings were already there. I was told these were the Columbia River chinook headed south. Anyway, if anybody has any info on what Jim asked or has any info on Rivers Inlet would sure be appreciated.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have a great trip planned. We need to be back in
Seattle by Aug 14th for a family reunion. After some more research I am going to use 3/8"
poly line, probably 400'. I'm thinking two crab pots, pot puller, one downrigger and two poles.
Hope to see you on the water sometime.

Jim
