It was 21:15 when we cast the lines off and pointed Destiny's bow toward the opening in the breakwater. We were bound for Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island for the night. We hoped to be able to get in on the city dock but were prepared to hang on the hook if we could not. We made the crossing from Shilshole to Eagle Harbor in just a little over an hour.
We made perfect time arriving at the turning buoy just after the ferry had cleared it and began its journey back to Seattle. This would leave us a wide open channel into Eagle Harbor. Any of you that have been here know that it is a tight channel especially if you have to share it with a ferry. And then, to do it at night......
As we approached the city docks, we were amazed to see that there were only two other vessels secured. We quickly deployed the fenders for a port side tie. Maureen brought Destiny around and once again she executed a perfect landing.
By 22:30, we were secure and ready to spend the night here in Eagle Harbor. We will walk the farmers market and then the rest of town this morning. Once we are done, we will decide whether we spend another night here or, head over to Blakely Harbor to spend the night on the hook. Sunday, it will be back off to Shilshole, then off to Seatac to catch a plane back to Denver and, call it another great weekend here at home in Seattle.
