I've never had my tug detailed before. How much should I budget? 29', kept under cover. Rust on the swim step from crab pots.

Here in San Diego you could be looking at $600-800 boat bucks.

over $2,000 for a R29 in Anacortes WA
Clean, wax, polish outside above waterline

I usually do my own but had a hip replacement mid March and hired the BoatDr mobile marine care to come out They buffed polished and waxed, did a good job! Cost $500 for my R-21E

Elliott Bay $2100

Timewise on our 27, I probably took 8-10 hours. Am 77 and a little slow..That is wash,
Compound w/Mequires 110 , sand scratches and recompound those spots to get shine back. I waxed one side using Mequires Flagship. The other side I wiped with alcohol and ceramic coated, Cerakote product. We will see how that holds up.. That does not include topside. I could see how it would be easy to drop a couple of Boat Bucks to hire it out..

You can get the rust off easily with toilet bowl cleaner. Channel Surfing is ceramic coated. So I just rinse with freshwater... wash the boat a few times a year with soap and water. I spend a few hours twice a year going over it with the hydro serum (a water based ceramic coating product) that rejuvenates the solvent based ceramic coating applied to the hull and salon (white above the waterline). Ironically, I spend about bunch of time on the windows. There's so many of them and when I apply the hydro serum to the outside of the windows I don't have to use my wipers as water just runs right off.

It's all work, buffing, polishing and waxing is harder work. Keeping the boat in a covered slip or garage will keep it cleaner longer and thus reduce the time/expense of cleaning.
