Diesel Additives and Exterior Sealant Recommendaions

Does anyone have experience or recommendations for using diesel injector cleaners - products such as 'Diesel Kleene', 'CRC Diesel Fuel Therapy' and similar? I have a 2010 R-29 with Yanmar 6BY-260.
Also, what's a good product/marine sealant for repairing exterior surface cracks in joints?

Typically your engine manufacturer will recommend an additive. For my Volvo D6, they recommend the Stanadyne Performance Formula All Season Diesel Fuel Additive. I put it in with each time I fill up from empty. I also use BioBor JF (Biocide) to prevent fungus/microbes/slime in the Diesel.

Regarding Sealant, you'll find that is a fierce debate on this forum. Its usually either Sikaflex or 3M, specific product might depend on your use case and if you want it to be "permanent" or not.

This is a judgment call by you. There are many good products on the market. Most have the same chemical additives in them. Choose a product that has a known name for quality. I choose Pri-D fuel additive when I owned my Volvo D3. Volvo Penta and other manufactures do not say " do not to use an additive". They just do not recommend an additive. They do recommend that you maintain the fuel system and fuel that the engine uses. My biggest concern with my Common rail diesel was lubricant for the injector pump and injectors. The lower sulfur used in todays fuels reduces the lubricity that is used to lubricate theses components. Water was not has much of a concern for me. I used mechanical preventatives for this.( Fuel polishing )

Do research by reading articles written, ask a certified diesel technician, injector and injector pump rebuild shops are the subject matter experts on this subject.

The key component is if you maintain the fuel and keep the water out of the tank you will not have to worry about bad fuel.

This is one of the better articles that I have read on line. I keep saved folder. It is a two part I recommend reading both to get a better understanding of what additive is needed and why.
