Difficulty filling freshwater tank on R31CB

I just purchased a 2022 R-31CB.
In filling the freshwater tank, I have found it takes a very long time. I first thought it was full because the mouth began to overflow. I checked the gauge and it showed it was far from full. I waited for a while and began to fill again. Water was added, but after a while, it overflowed again. I repeated this process numerous times and finally it was indeed full. The gauge, though slow, confirmed it was full.
Each time it overflowed, I noticed there was absolutely no water coming from the overflow vent. I am assuming that is the problem.
Does anyone have a solution? I am aware of old posts on this issue, but don't see any recent ones.

We have found on our 2021 r31 that the water tank fills best at a slower water flow. If you fast fill it will do as you stated.
I have had water come out the overflow when we fill slow. But if it’s a a fast flow it will come out the the fill hole.

You may also want to check the tank vent hose that runs behind the panel at the back of the galley sink cabinets. Our 2021 R-31 had a loop in it that acted like a water trap, preventing the venting (although I would expect it should still overflow when full). Our RT dealer cut the length of the hose, straightening the line and reducing the water trap.

Although our boat is a 2021 R-29CB we have the same experience- if near empty, it can take 20 minutes or more to completely fill the water tank. Usually the input water psi or water flow rate is very high. Frankly, I thought the water was going into the bilge. That has never been confirmed. I only know the tank apparently is full by water flowing out of the fill inlet and the water pump gauge shows full. I have never found an air vent. Also, the operations manual does not show an air vent. I think this is strange.

On my R31, I can run water into the tank opening at full force. The venting works well and I don’t have any backup. My tank fills in a reasonable time.

As bradf advises, the vent line itself could be kinked or otherwise not routed so that it can do its job well. In checking it, also check the thru-hull vent itself. If the factory caulked the connection between the line and the thru-hull, caulk might have gotten into the thru-hull vent elbow where it slips into the hose and is clamped on, partially or fully closing off the vent. Shouldn’t be that way, but it can happen. A vent can also get closed off by spider or insect nests, but on a new boat, that seems unlikely.

The vent line connects to the thru-hull fitting in the space behind the cabinets. It isn’t the easiest to get to. Because you just took delivery on your R31, the dealer should be willing to check it as part of your warranty. That will save you some time and effort, as well as some aches and pains from contorting your way into the cabinets to get to it. Good luck!

Thanks to you all. Slow filling certainly works. And the gauge works. Found the problem was the severely kinked hose! Can’t believe the factory worker would leave it like that. I am asking my salesman to fix it. He has been very helpful.
