I have a Cutwater 288 on order and am curious the best dinghy solutions that people have found with their outboard boats. I’m generally a one man show - I’ve been using inflatable kayaks on my R23 (BOTE) but would like something with a small engine.

Thanks!

I checked with cutwater, the c-288 doesn’t come with a dinghy lift on the back. Am curious what you come up with. My c-288 is due in June, when is yours going to be delivered? And did you order it through Sundance?

For our R-25 OB, we chose a 2.5m inflatable dinghy with airfloor + ePropulsion motor. The dinghy lives in the middle compartment under the cockpit for long term storage. The cockpit is kind of cramped to inflate it, but workable. For short term storage, we put it on the roof (which covers the solar panel). Unlike the R-23, the transom extends on the sides, so you can't slide it in on the swim platform (well you can vertically, not horizontally).

I went with an inflatable 8' dinghy. I store it deflated in the cockpit. It came with oars. But I also picked up a Yamaha F2.5 outboard for it. 35lbs, so I could handle it by myself. I can go almost 5 knots with this setup.

We went with a Takacat 260LX and an ePropulsion Sprit 1.0 plus. Used it for the first time on our last coastal trip. Store the dingy in the center cockpit compartment and the ePropulsion motor in the cave.

We also went with a Takacat 260LX and the Spirit ePropulsion electric motor. We have a Yamaha 25 outboard on the swim step so we slide the dinghy up on the roof. For long term storage we can pack it up into 2 bags at 35 and 25 pounds each. The wife and I can get it up onto the roof, but not sure it would work for a one man show. I have yet to try it solo. Maybe with a set of roofrack kayak rollers and a pulley block?

I bought an RU-250 from West Marine and made a dinghy rack for my 2021 RT-27. It works well. Here’s a video link.

Thanks all. I'm going to go with the west marine or Achilles dinghy with an e-propulsion motor.

Appreciate all the insight!

Did you get your boat? 😀

I have a R27 OB. I also own a True Kit Discovery 3.3. It is big but we are gonna try it. I want to brag about True Kit. IMO the best dinghy out there for the money. Even with shipping, the TK's will be either the same or cheaper. The have a Navigator 2.5 that is 52 pounds. Go to website and watch videos. I also have an ePropulsion 1.0. Hard to find a better OB for a dinghy.

also have 27ob and waiting for True Kit 3.0 to be delivered...

looks like a well made boat
