Dinghy Safety Equimpent (USCG)

For those that use their dinghy's for shore excursions, do you carry the full complement of USCG safety devices on your inflatables? Has anyone been boarded/safety checked on their dinghy?

I just bought a dinghy and need to know if should purchase a second set of USCG equipment (flares/horn/whistle etc.)

If you download: a boaters guide to the federal requirements for recreational boats. You will find your answer ! Which is no unless your dingy is over 16 ft. Bob

always have dock line, anchor and line, flotation device each person.

If using the dingy at night you do need a white light that shows 360 degrees.

We just added this kit to our dinghy. Works great, feel a bit safer when out around sunset.

The USCG requirements in the attached need to be met. But keep in mind that meeting the requirements does not necessarily make you safe.....!
