I talked with a salesman, Captain Dave, in Fort Lauderdale earlier this week who gave a quote and said the system has been installed in a Ranger Tug 31 and works quite well.

If it's not making thrusters run stronger in high wind/current conditions, it might give a false sense of proficiency and deprive practical skills. I still need to dock under current/wind, not sure I can rely on Dockmate for this. Since our thrusters are not that strong, going thru the pain of learning pivoting might be a good idea. On the other hand, I still find paper charts immensely useful.
