dog vests

Hello all: we have two dogs...one is labso swims well. but our other is a non-water dog :cry: my question to you : where is the best place to buy vests for these guys - good vests for a great price !!! This is first mate Tina - also hailing from Naut- A Clue :mrgreen:

It's small insurance for a loved pooch.... Go with the best you can find, if he's a small guy/gal, get one with a handle on the back and then he/she can be carried...

Friends of ours got one for Nikki the Navigator, and we used it to lower her into the dinghy with a stanchion-mounted davit. I'm not sure where they got it, but could ask.

A word of caution: just because it has a handle to grab the dog doesn't mean it will actually hold if you try to pick up a large dog. That strap on the top tore free once! Nikki is pretty big, but was within the max weight limit for the vest. Fortunately, nothing bad happened as a result, but it's something to watch if you get one built in the same way. The two straps that go around the dog were strong and well-secured, but that one on top was stitched onto those poorly. When it tore off, I just replaced it with a piece of rope tied around the two main straps, and I think they're still using that rope today. The picture is from a trip in 2006.
