Hello all,

We are looking at boats and have several ideas in mind for our mission. Some trailerable options, some not. The trailerable options (e.g. R-31CB or C-32CB) are enticing for many reasons. We live several hours from the Puget Sound and other awesome boating destinations. The option to use the boat as accomodations on the road would be a huge mark in favor of becoming TugNuts. A new term in our lexicon is "boaterhoming", which I love. I am curious if the factory has given any thought to this and perhaps considered providing the options to not discharge grey water overboard, but into the holding tank? This would obviously be a solution for short term over-the-road missions with the boat and I am not suggesting live-aboarderhoming (new word!).

These boats are truly floating swiss army knives, and this option would make it icing on the cake.

What other considerations are there when it comes to boaterhoming? A generator that does not require the boat be in the water?

What, you’re only 360 miles from Anacortes? A simple 6 hour one day drive with no major steep grades. Shouldn’t be a problem even with a big RT-31. We pull our RT-25 Classic 550 miles from southern Oregon to Bellingham in one 10 hour day up and one 10 hour drive back every season. Wish my tow was only 360 miles!
If we leave late in the day, we use a rest stop on Interstate 5 to spend the night. We have used most of the northbound and southbound rest stops between Bellingham, WA and Canby, OR to overnight. Don’t really worry about the under-a-gallon gray dish water - if not raining we use a bucket to catch it.
Our boat doesn’t have a generator. We don’t need one even for staying overnight at a rest stop. The 180 watt solar we had kept the refrigerator and always on stuff charged just fine. The kerosene stove cooktop made hot water for tea and is where breakfast is cooked. As long as you only use your 22 volt items in a energy efficient manor you should be fine for one night of boaterhoming.

When we boaterhome we follow a few things to make life easier. First we always will use the RV park showers n toilets. This reduces having to address grey water from the shower sump and reduces extra black water tank weight while trailering. When we have to wash dishes we’ll catch the grey water in a bucket at the overboard discharge hole n then dispose of properly. You’ll need an RV 30 amp pigtail to connect to the RV park power pedestal and in turn connect that to your boat 30 amp power cord.
